Fuyoh!!! Finally! I'm back online!!
Damn streamyx!!! You know why? I was able to connect to the internet, but, just wait, but...every freaking website was not connectable! Yes! Even google!

So I called up our dear streaymx, and they said my connection should be fine. And that's after I did all the troubleshooting with them. Phew! And they said I should be able to surf the net like normal. And after I told them that it was still the same like the whole day -- unconnectable to any website, they told me that there was quite a few complaints coming from Penang. Ok, so what? That's supposed to solve my problem?
Good thing everything worked out this morning, and as you can see, I finally am able to blog. Sorry that I missed out a Christmas post. Urghh!!! Christmas happens only once a year, you know! Anyhow, Merry past Christmas and a Happy Boxing Day people! And if you're feeling a little lazy, be sure to spice up your day with a subscription to the Chung Ling feed.
ps. Anyone in Penang having problems connecting yesterday? If so, that'd make me feeling a whole lot better. Please leave a comment.

Yeah...I too experienced the same internet problems yesterday. It got back to normal after midnight.
I actually emailed them at around 7pm. They replied me at around 9pm with a long list of "basic" troubleshooting items. really long. I think the list is just to buy time. it's not that basic as supposed. and it's not really logic. how can a line suddenly got worst with normal usage? I am an IT guy, so, i know what's right and wrong. I tried many troubleshooting methods before i ever decide to complain to them. I don't call them because i know they will just spend time on phone teaching customers rubish.
I lost one whole day trying to do some online application. couldn't do so due to streamyx. great...!!!
so, happy enough the line is back to normal now.
yup.. its been happening to me last few days. Its a 'lie'... your actually disconnected.
I just disconnect my connection when it happens, then try connecting after awhile. It doesnt last long
Yup, had the same problems with Streamyx starting from Monday nite at 9:00 pm. Pinging the DNS server often came back with a 75% - 100% loss. Called up their hotline and went through the futile troubleshooting exercise, but still cannot even enter the Net, despite the Streamyx ppl insisting that "you should be connected."
Connection was restored only at around 3am. On Tuesday morning, the Streamyx technician told us that they'd checked and found there was a lot of "congestion" in Penang (duh, as if we didn't know that). Unfortunately, for the whole of Christmas day, Streamyx went down again til the wee hours of the morning around 3-4am. So, you're not the only Penangite with the connection problem these past 2 days.
Hopefully, the connection will be back to normal after Christmas. Streamyx seriously sucks. If a little Christmas holiday can result in a massive congestion til access to the Net is completely zero, then they probably should stop whoring themselves to sign up new subscribers and focus more on improving their crap broadband.
Seriously, if this fiasco occurs every time there is a festive season (I am predicting another "congestion" on New Year's eve and day), I will hound Penangfon for fibre optic connection to my residential area.
Haha
Consider that a good X'mas Present...
LOL
I had the chance to train my patience last night too..
I also face da prob lk u not just y'day but evrydays, just y'day was more serious than bfo. i had complaint many times! but, wat can i do?
hey guys!
thx for all the comments
it really helped a lot
as at least now I feel better knowing that I wasn't the sole victim of yesterday's no-internet emergency pinned upon me by our dear streamyx
anyways, thx again and have a pleasant new year!
Thee hee heee...
Well, TM are NOT PAYING any OT to the Engineering Staff, and so...you get all sorts of errors and stuff like that ah.
I noe..cuz I had to put up with it daily basis plus the fact that there were seismic activity which placed the POS TX out of line from the Main Land Backend.....so you get a miserable 100MB connection for the whole Island.
And not to forget that if there is rise in Tide etc, there will be shorts, and blame JKR, PBA, SAMY etc for all the mishaps...and worst of all, the whole island share a 1GB link to mainland compared to 100GB FDDI backbone in KULIM alone all thanks to different routes.
Also depends if your node is Fiber or Copper. If High Rise..too bad..so sad... will sure have Bad Connections or worse, no connections in BAYAN LEPAS< TELUK KUMBAR areas due to some hotspot.
best regards
